Guild Mentor

A guild mentor has a special responsibility in developing a younger monk.  They must oversee this monk to make sure they are developing correctly and becoming someone who can contribute to guild community.  Also a mentor has the responsibility to develop themselves by choosing a path to follow for further studies.  In choosing a path the mentor must find a monk of their chosen path to mentor them in their studies.

To become a mentor a monk must meet the following criteria and be approved at this time by the Guild Mistress.

Ø      Have reached the 35th circle in learning.

Ø      Have acquired additional studies in Critical Strikes, Multiple Attacks, and Combat Lore.

Ø      Upon reaching the 45th circle of learning have decided on their chosen path.

Ø      Upon reaching the 50th circle of learning have acquired a mentor in their chosen path.

Ø      Have extended knowledge of the lands and know the location of all the major cities.

Upon becoming a mentor they will be assigned to a novice or young monk that the Guild Mistress and Guild Elders feel would be an appropriate match.  The mentor will be advised of the match and will be allowed to accept the assignment or ask for a meeting to discuss why they feel this would not be a proper match.  If at the end of the meeting it is agreed it will not be a proper match a new assignment will be given or the mentor may put forth the name of young monk or novice they feel would be a proper match for approval.

A mentor may take on a second mentee, but must have reached their 50th circle of learning to do so.  The mentor may ask for a second novice or young monk be assigned to them, or may ask for the approval of someone they have chosen themselves.

In reaching the 45th circle of learning it is asked that the mentor make a decision on a path they wish to take to further their own learning.  At this time there are three paths a monk may choose to follow in the guild.  If a monk does not wish one of the following paths, they may request a meeting with the Guild Mistress to discuss what they wish to do to further their studies.

[     Shaolin - Monks with Superlative unarmed and armed combat skills.

*     This requires the extra study of the use of all combat weapons along with gaining knowledge in non-weapon combat.

*     Shaolins are known as the warriors of the guild and will often be called upon to represent the guild in times of war.

*     Often the chosen path of those monks who wish to keep remorting along the path of the monk.

[     Ninja – Monks that are fighters with the ability of stealth.

*     This requires the study of certain combat weapons, the study hiding and ambush and the continued study of non-weapon combat.

*     Ninjas are often used for their skills as spies in times of war.

*     In the past they have been known to be used as assassins hired by feuding lords.  This was only upon the approval of the Guild Master.

[     Shimbala – Monks that choose this path are known to be the deadliest of fighters in non-combat weapons, but keep a balance by being the most adept of healers.

*     This requires the study in the art of healing which includes healing spells and herbs.  Also a continued study of all non-combat skills.

*     Shimbalas are known as the healers of the guild.

*     These monks are often times asked to join hunting parties for capabilities in fighting and healing.

After a mentor decides on their path of learning they are requested to seek out an older monk who is well along in their studies of the chosen path to be a mentor to them.  This is required to be done by the 50th circle of learning or the mentor must meet with a Guild Elder or the Guild Mistress to ask for an extension, including an adequate reason for the extension.

It is our desire to take the monks who wish to be a mentor and help in developing their leadership skills.  In doing this it will continue to allow the guild to have an abundance of knowledge and leaders.
